This is achieved through keeping class sizes smaller to allow for the individual attention and tailored exercises. Correction is the key to effective results to bring about better posture, strength, flexibility and tone.
You may be new to Pilates or a long time devotee. Each class will aim to improve the strength of the deep abdominals and lower spine, improve and target postural muscles, encourage good breathing patterns and correct whole body alignment of the joints and muscles.
A personal induction session is strongly recommended before you start which includes a postural analysis.
What is Pilates?
Pilates is a form of total body conditioning that is accessible to people of all ages and all levels of fitness.
The principles of Pilates work to restore mind and body concentration by maintaining a constant awareness of how the body moves.
Pilates was devised by Joseph Pilates as a means of physical fitness and total body well-being. The six core principles are concentration, centering, control, breathing, precision and flow which are integral components of each Pilates session.
Pilates exercises range from very gentle to extremely challenging. It is important to learn the fundamentals first. As exercises and techniques build with time and experience they should challenge strength, balance and co-ordination.
The exercises are safe and effective, working on improving tone and alignment of the body by targeting key postural muscles combined with lengthening and toning rather than creating bulk.
